Passing the pigeon
on to a vet or rescue charity?
Please always ask about a rescue's euthanasia policies, and if they plan to release
the pigeon after treament.
It's okay to care for a pigeon at home if a suitable rescue is not available. It's okay to say no to euthanasia
if it is offered.
Did you just find a pigeon?
First, pick up the pigeon.
If you think a pigeon needs help, you are probably right.
To keep the pigeon safe, please grab him while you read more.
If you are unable to grab him that means he is able to keep himself
safe from predators for now. A pigeon may also be sitting in a funny position
to relax, but he should be able to move if you walk towards him
Tips to Catch a Pigeon
What if you can not catch him?
If you can't catch a pigeon, you can read more about what his symptoms may be
and give him care outdoors, such as providing seeds and water. You may also
be able to provide medicines or herbal remedies in his water.
You can also post on local pigeon rescue groups and animal rescue groups
for help. Someone nearby may be able to catch him.
Finding Local Help
Will he get me sick?
Every pigeon rescuer is still healthy after picking up all of the pigeons they have helped.
Pigeons do not carry diseases that impact humans.
A baby pigeon's parents will still take
him back after you touch him.
You can wear gloves or wash your hands well after you
touch him of you feel more comfortable.
